Who we are
Carbon Nexus is a purpose-built research facility designed to accommodate the diverse needs of international manufacturing organisations that require the cost-effective resolution of carbon fibre-related projects that are strategic and complex.
Located in Waurn Ponds, Geelong, the suite of equipment available to researchers and industry through Carbon Nexus is unparalleled. It is truly the nexus of industry, research and teaching for the global fibre community.
What we deliver
Carbon Nexus is incorporating world-first open access infrastructure designed to manufacture carbon fibres, textile pre-forms and composites for developing new technologies, processes and products.
The facility provides materials characterisation, applied analysis and research on innovative manufacturing concepts.
Our activities fully align with all facets of industry requirement, from basic initial research to complex applied research, using a range of technology feasibility testing, development and demonstration to deliver production-ready technology and operations.
The facility is encompassing everything from fibre manufacture to composite manufacture with outcomes that are performance tested to ASTM standards and industry ready.
This capability makes Carbon Nexus ideal for engaging with the full spectrum of manufacturing industries, from aerospace and automotive to defence, medical and beyond.
With its range of research and production equipment, the facility enables the scientific development of new and novel carbon fibre products. It also has the wherewithal to take these concepts from the laboratory to the production phase.
